Highest level of satisfaction with the direction the country is going since 2005. Lots of interesting stats in there.

By the numbers it looks like old non-urban Rs lead the charge. Shocking!
It’ll be interesting to see how this changes with the upcoming economic slowdown.

I find that very hard to believe. I would love to see the actual questions being asked and who was being asked.
It reminds me of an old saying “There are lies, damn lies and statistics.”

Do you think Hotter weather , particularly the increased consumption of ice cream and other frozen/refrigerated foods makes people feel better about their nation?

Poll seems legit. The point its 38% are satisfied, obviously more repubs than dems, 60% unsatisfied, 2% no opinion. I read the survey methodology etc. Sample size is 1520 adults. Link is here. It’s really just one question:
“In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?”

That’s wild- I would not have guessed that. Looking at the chart, it appears to be fairly well-correlated with the economy - which does make sense, since it’s usually what drives elections, too.

Interviews are conducted with respondents on landline telephones and cellular phones, with interviews conducted in Spanish for respondents who are primarily Spanish-speaking. Each sample of national adults includes a minimum quota of 70% cell phone respondents and 30% landline respondents, with additional minimum quotas by time zone within region. Landline and cell phone telephone numbers are selected using random digit dial methods. Gallup obtained sample for this study from Survey Sampling International. Landline respondents are chosen at random within each household on the basis of which member has the next birthday

It’s hard to argue with inexplicable economic prosperity, low UE, and high asset values (homes, stocks, etc).
That tends to trump everything else, pardon the pun. Most Americans are — or at least feel — more financially secure now than in the past decade, so 95% of us can selectively ignore policy issues and just carry on.
Until 95% becomes 90%...80%...tariff wars...then we’re all pissed off and the numbers show 20-year lows.

It’s fascinating that merely having less than 2/3 of the country unhappy is considered “success”.
This also gives credence to the concept that money may not be the key to happiness, but lack of money is certainly a big factor in unhappiness
. If the president creates an environment that
gives people a job and a raise, they think he’s great.
Also, WOOOOOOOOOOOOO THANK BEJESUS FOR TRUMP!!!!!! OBUMMER HAD A LOW OF 7, POUND SIGNS WORST PRESIDENT EVARRRRRRRR!!!!!!

30% of the results are based on landline phones. Only old people have landline phones. All old people get cranky in the winter because their old joints start acting up or whatever.
Makes sense that results improve when things warm up.

Who is considering it a success? It is the historical average though, but not as good as the early 2000's.

Neither the landline critique or the weather critique really hold up. There will certainly be environmental factors but none of the parties involved are known for generating horseshit results. They are considered among the best of the best.

I’m betting on a large slowdown/correction sometime in 20 20- 22. Way too many company stock b uybacks and executive internal dumping going on.

I think 202o-ish is likely. I work in a credit risk-related field, and many execs I work with are betting on this, and are already looking into how they will modify their collection/billing policies.

You have to remember one of the key points of American conservatism:
Everything that goes wrong is from democrats*
Everything that goes right, even if it is based on unsustainable tax cuts and trickle down lies, is from republicans
*doubly so if the democrat leader is a Kenyan-born socialist Muslim.
